I am interested in synthesizing vanadium borates, and tried so far V2O5, NH4VO3 and V2O4 as vanadium sources and boric acid, elemental boron, borax, potassium tetraborate, but these experiments yields back mostly the basic decomposition products under varied high-pressure and high temperatures.
Your suggestions/thoughts are highly appreciated.

Since both borates and vanadates tend toward glass formation, it is possible that crystallization of the compounds you seek is difficult. Having extra components like water, ammonium ions etc. in the mix may make it even more difficult.
I assume you are trying to form BVO4. This compound is likely to be isomorphous with BAsO4 and maybe BPO4. I would suggest to first try to make BVO4 - without extraneous components - at ambient pressure, possibly by using techniques that have been used for BAsO4. Hopefully you'll get a crystalline compound; if not, you can try to seed it with BPO4 (or better BAsO4, which however is not commercially available) to facilitate nucleation. Then subject the product to high pressure and see what happens. I assume you are looking for a "quartz-cohesite" transition?
