The participation of young scientists in obtaining external grants has become extremely important. One of the three criteria of the evaluating process in Poland is related to the number of external grants, both Polish and foreign, obtained by all departments. Databases collecting information on the number of funds obtained by individual people allow the formulation of various conclusions. Most young researchers have an administrative background, achievements in the form of publications and experience in cooperation with foreign countries. The constraints in the form of variables affecting young researchers could be categorized. Among the limitations, the following could be examined: additional working hours, the number of applications that were not approved, support from immediate superiors, the list of publications made before the application process, personal constraints (childcare, childcare leaves, long absences).
The hypothesis is related to the supposition that the greatest limitation is the closest environment in which the researcher works and the most significant constraint is the personal attitude that researchers have to the supervisor.
