You can dip your mounted IF-sections short time just in Xylene or Toluol and mout them afterwards in DPX. That's possible when you use Cy-or alexa fluorphors. But you have to keep in mind if you use solvents like Xylene or tuluol the tissue will shrink in the z-axis because of the dehydration effect.
The advantage ist that no dryout effects like airbubbles will apear.
The disadvantage is if you need z-stacks for your analyses and your sections are thinner than 15 µm it is recommanded to use water soluble mounting media because even air dried sections swell again when they get in contact with water soluble mounting media.
