I think it's because of internal reasons (e.g. temperature-sensitive ori) in plasmid itself and natural reasons (consume lots of resources in cells and probably digested by protease).

Bacteria (Lactobacillus casei (Shirota)) has c.a. 12% bacteriophage (our unpublished observation).
HepG2 has 6.6% virus, and Hc has 4.7% virus, 10.0% bacteria and 3.2% plant (please see file; HepG2 fucoidan).
