I know this is a general question. But whenever when I reading a paper about Li-air batteries majority of studies are used Watman seprator? What is the advantage of this product?
I have used the Whatman® glass microfibres in normal lithium-ion cells (e.g pouch and coin cells) as they are easier to handle, chemically inert and mechanically more stable than PE/PP separators. You can also dry them at higher temperatures. The current performance is slightly lowerand therfore the overpotetnial higher but not really a problem for currents below 1C.
