You can use strong acids as electrolyte for sensing, but you also have to take the components of your system into account. For example if you are working with biomolecules you will have to consider a certain range of pH and accordingly you will have to choose the adequate electrolyte solution.
Dear Muhammad Arsalan as Marie Berthuel said, the electrolyte selection depends of different factors. What are you want to detect? What materials are used as electrodes/active sensing element? The electrolyte must facilitate the cell reaction and carry the ionic charge across the electrodes efficiently. It must also form a stable reference potential with the reference electrode and be compatible with materials used within the sensor.
