Dear researchers, I am treating the waste water by vermifiltration process using different filter bed media. After the treatment, BOD, COD, TSS were found to be reduced but reduction in total suspended solids were not observed. The HRT during the treatment process is about 10 hours. How can I reduce the TDS. Kindly give me suggestions.

The performance of the vermifiltration process decreased with increasing HLR. A too-high HLR reduces the contact time of the wastewater with the filter media;HRT. The HRT signifies the duration of interaction between the wastewater and the active layer of the vermifiltration process. It primarily depends on the HLR, the porosity of the bedding materials, and the volume of the filter profile. This parameter holds significant importance as it determines the duration for which worms and microorganisms remain in contact with the wastewater. A vermifilter is an aerobic treatment system, consisting of a biological reactor containing media that filters organic material from wastewater. Vermifiltration is a new Technique approach towards wastewater treatment to save cost, energy and eliminate. It is a biofilter with earthworms, where the earthworms digest the suspended particles screened on the filter bed, and degrade organic matter through enzymatic activity, and in the process of ingestion. It can be reduced TDS but some time not reduced depends upon waste water.
