Politics is about authoritative allocation of values and resources. In Africa, there is a huge mismatch between the available resources and needs. For those who have access to these meagre resources, patronage and selfish interests are at play. This ends up concentrating these resources in the hands of a few while relegating the rest to the purge of poverty. Conflict arises when the masses who realize that their help is only resident in their scramble take the other route of confrontation to have what they want. To cure this defect, leadership must be accountable, considerate, responsible and transparent. The leaders must vouch for equity and equality as the chief currencies in ensuring that service delivery percolates to the least people in the lower economic pyramid.
Major root causes of conflict include extreme poverty; economic stagnation; high unemployment; institutional shortcomings; poor government services; individual—and typically economic—incentives to fight; environmental degradation; and economic, political, and social inequalities. Conflict can also have a cultural dimension related to ethnicity or religion. Not to forget, several conflicts in developing countries began as Cold War proxies. Sadly, none of this offers fertile ground for politicians to help.

I do appreciate all the discussions forwarded from all the participants. I have learned a lot and still expecting more specially on the roles of others such as developed nations, NGO's and Aid organisations. Moreover, any proposed solution as take away that may help for further research for Africa.
The politics in developing countries, especially in Africa remain in conflict basically due to the following reasons:
1. European Colonialism that has merged different ethnic and religious groups into one geographical entity, thereby creating the problem of nation-building, which is the first prerequisite for the achievement of political goals. In fact, in developing countries useful energy that would have gone into positive development has been continuously dissipated on nation-building.
2. The existence of poor institutional infrastructures to engender political participation. In Africa, and other developing countries, there is the phenomenon of a strong leader and a weak state, unlike the developed countries with weak leader and a strong state. A strong state here refers to virile, reliable and functional state institutions.
3. Prolong military rule has also hampered the journey towards democratic consolidation in most developing countries.
4. Low level of education has also contributed immensely to low political culture of the citizens of developing countries which eventually lead to low level of political participation.
5. Weaponization of poverty by the ruling elites has also been identified as a major problem. The ruling elites have deliberately neglected the establishment of social infrastructures which would have alleviated poverty of the masses, in order to keep them poor so as to be used as instruments of ensuring their regime security, through their involvement in election and religious violence, assassination of political opponents and investigative journalists, and others. creating divisions among communities for their selfish ends, amongst other atrocious acts aimed at consolidating their corrupt patrimonial and patriarchal empire.

Politics in developing countries, particularly African countries remains in conflict due to inherited nature of colonialism. Most African elites at independence were more concerned with holding the position of authority rather than promoting good governance. The European colonizers handed over power to Africans who were not informed and can easily be manipulated for neo-colonial interests rather than the intelligent ones who could compete with them globally. That's the trend in most developing countries of the world.
The politics of African countries remain in conflict shows a reflection about our Colonial past. Most African States acquisition were through violence and conflict. This explain the nature and character of the African States. Colonized African States were forcefully incorporated into the Capitalist economy which was also the reason conflict remain in African States
