We have prepared TiO2/Fe2O3 composite by deposition of TiO2 nanoparticles on to the surface of α-Fe2O3 microflower.
And we found that the introduction of TiO2 nanoparticles (10 nm)increases the surface area but diminishes the average pore size.
Would you kindly provide me with an explanation and references about this finding?

Could you specify do you mean the surface of the composite is higher than the sum of both TiO2 + Fe2O3 measured separately?

I did not measure surface area for TiO2 nanoparticles separately. I measured pure Fe2O3 and TiO2-Fe2O3 composite.
Surface area for the composite was higher than that of pure Fe2O3.
That can be expected; you got the high surface of the NP in addition. They enter the pores without clogging them.
