Seed set in banana is highly restricted by male and female sterility factors. Even though, male and female fertile parents are used for crossing programme, seed set depends on the climate. How, what is the possible physiological role of climate regulating seed set in fertile female when crossed with a highly fertile male?
It's not only true in case of banana but for other horticultural crops as well, success will be climate dependent ..

يجبُ تهيئة المكان المُناسب للزراعة، بحيث يكون المناخ استوائياً، أو دافئاً، إذ إنَّ نبات الموز يُمكنه تحمّل الحرارةِ العاليّة، ولكن إذا تمَّ توفير الماء الكافي له، أمَّا الحرارة التي تقلُ عن الأربعةَ عشرةَ درجةٍ لا تُناسب الموز، وفوراً تتوقّف النبتةُ عن النمو، أمَّا الحرارةُ المثاليّة لنمو الموز تتراوحُ ما بين ستةٍ وعشرين، وثلاثينَ درجةٍ مئويّة. الموزُ يحتاجُ إلى كميّةٍ كبيرةً من الماء لينمو؛ لأنَّ أوراق النبتةُ كبيرةٌ وملساء لذا تفقدُ الرطوبةَ بشكلٍ سريع
