Root exudate possesses an immense importance for a plant physiologist, microbiologist as well as a pathologist. i want the procedure to extract root exudate from banana.
Root exudates are usually found in the root plane region of the plant. These are just a few mm from the root. The exudates often serves as a chemotaxic agents for many microbes to come near the root. these may be harmful or useful to the plant. I would recommend that you uproot a banana plant. Gently shake off all the loose mud that may tend to fall off naturally. there will be some mud sticking on the roots still. Now try to scrape off these mud particles which did not fall off easily. These will have the root exudates secreted by the plant. N would need lot of these roots to get a descent amount of extract for your study.
Kindly use the methodology of Pang et al. 2015 entitled "Physiological and morphological adaptations of herbaceous perennial legumes allow differential access to sources of varyingly soluble phosphate". DOI: 10.1111/ppl.12297
