Some time a researcher cites a research work in publication but on research gate the citation cant be counted.Why?
Three conditions should be met in order to RG be able to count a citation:
- the citing paper must be uploaded on RG platform (as public or private full text),
- the cited paper description must be present in the bibliography section of the uploaded citing paper,
- the above cited paper description must be understood by RG parser.
Unfortunately, lots of pdf file have broken cited paper descriptions in terms that they are being displayed correctly however they contain e.g. non-printable special characters what may be confusing for RG parser.

It could be that the paper will be cited at a later stage. It depends on RG dynamics in uploading papers.
