In our younger days I remember SALICYLATE MIXTURE was used to treat fever and cold. May be some more ingredients were mixed with standard SODIUM SALICYLATE MIXTURE. I think so because depending on the type of illness my father, who was a doctor, used to write a long prescription for the pharmacologist who was responsible for preparing the medicine. With two or three dosages we were cured. However we had to take the medicine few more times to complete the treatment. Now, I don’t find any doctor, who prescribes such medicine, mostly they prefer antibiotics. What are the reasons?
