Researchers work desperately but it is not necessary that they will find positive outcomes. Finally, the researches without positive outcomes are quite difficult to get published in good journals, while they save the time of other researchers to get involved in such research works.
I agree completely that negative findings are valuable for understanding a research question. Knowing what does NOT work is as important as knowing what DOES work. I cannot explain why the publication field favors positive results, other than that success is always favored in all parts of society.

Good journals need evidences, supporting facts, citations and details so of course the researcher have to conduct several methods such as conducting surveys, distributing questionnaires, interviews, focus groups so that it will not lead to bias findings or false statements nor allegations. Thus with reliable findings or with scientific results are justified showing an accurate, significance and true findings for the topic. That is what the editor or journal publication is looking for when they are reviewing the paper. That is my humble point of view.
