The softening of peach fruit from tip side results reduction in post harvest life of fruits
Because the older cells at the tip of the fruit are the first to ripening.
it maybe due to hormonal flow polarity
auxin seems to accumulate on the tip ! !
Why handling the fruit, for sorting, quality selection, and size classification, the tip is susceptible to be damaged due to its prominence.
Variety selections preclude fruit that shows prominent tips.
Reportedly, auxin transport via PAT in fruit is approximately high, when peach fruit reaches its maximum fresh weight.
regarding polar - basipetal auxin transportation, tip softening can be a result of such auxin transportation.
the attached paper may help you.

Hello
Fruit softening in peach is a continuous process and correlated closely with the depolymerization of matrix glycans, which proceeded throughout development, and this process first occurs at the tip of the fruit.
