I am considering a study on the entrepreneurial outlook of organic farmers in the Philippines relating to their culture and heritage and their vision towards a healthy and safe food supply.
In my opinion, organic farming is not sustainable to food security because of the growing population but sustainable to food safety because of the health benefits
Organic farming is nothing but the method of cultivation due to indigenous knowledge with cultural impact that farmers used to apply cow dung, seeds, and other inputs of their own only. It supports the quality of the land with a subsistence level of the agricultural output which is supporting the farmers' household and the remaining can be sold in the market.
The concept of food security implies that the population who do not get enough food for their consumption. This happens in less developing countries only. To meet out the consumption needs of the poor people that the organic method of cultivation will not support the expected quantity of the food products.
It can be solved due to inorganic methods of cultivation which is called Scientific technology is a modern one that can fulfill the needs of the poverty people. The chemical applications like fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides are devastating the land quality in the future. It may not sound enough in the long run. You can not expect the sustainability of production forever.
The result is that organic farming is slow but steady ad user-friendly technologies.
Wow, thanks everyone...im pro-organic & i am into anti-thesis to challenge myself why i am on it...with your valuable inputs, my belief to organic agriculture got stronger.
I agree with Senapathy Marisennayya . Also, really, it is? Is the correct concept the sustainability or exploitability? Sustainability is a concept made up by capitalism. Maybe it is desired to adding some innocence. I do not think so. It is not true that the resources are exploited so much for profit. The concepts of food security and safety are completely different concepts. Organic farming is a much more correct approach for these concepts.
Thank you for smashing your points on explotability over sustainability. If capitalism is immaterial, then i will lean on innovative entrepreneurship where organic agriculture for food security and safety are marry-able...
Yes, its very true that organic farming is an eco-friendly approach thus, food safety will be acquired. But in terms of sustainability, organic farming cannot suffice to feed the rapid increase of population, in the sense that this requires a huge area for its production and as much as possible more expensive. how can we attain sustainability if majority belongs to less fortunate of which cannot afford to buy organically produce?
