Integral NE protein lamin B receptor was recently associated with the degree of hyperchromatinization in neutrophils. In general, any physiological or biochemical changes observed in a cell or tissue mostly provide certain functional advantages to that cell or tissue. These cells are short lived and immediate responders while infection. Hence, theoretically hyperchromatin provide a way to hold certain genes at higher copy numbers and these genes may have role in immune arsenals..Hence, it can be expressed at higher concentrations within a short period of time than the bystanders (other than neutrophils). It is my speculation... However, studies on epigenetics or heterochromatin on neutrophils may give better idea than what I expressed here....
