A new study has tried to assess the genetic variants among mosquitoes that make them more susceptible to spreading deadly viral diseases such as dengue, yellow fever, Zika and chikungunya and more resistant to insecticides that are used to kill them.

Mosquitoes don't bite me, they really wanted to eat me; they prefer me, other than my siblings, and my family; so, science has the answer; I am happy to learn this!
i think mosquities have their preferences once it come to diet selection. They are selective, not sure though in blood group related meals

The biting mosquitoes are ALWAYS female so they probably have opposite sex attraction, but in reality they bite everyone. Rather males having higher BMR can generate more heat to attract these mosquitoes

I read somewhere that mosquitoes prefer to bite young ladies, but I do not know why mosquitoes prefer me to bite!

His sense of smell is tremendously sophisticated, but only by understanding it well can we develop more effective methods or strategies to avoid his bites.
Among the chemical components that most often act as radar are lactic acid, ammonia and carboxylic acids. Especially dangerous is lactic acid, as it is the main compound that attracts mosquitoes Aedes aegypti, a species that can be carriers of the dengue virus and yellow fever, as different studies have concluded.

This approach is innovative and potentially powerful, but it could also be costly. To be effective on a large scale, it could be necessary to constantly release modified mosquitoes; otherwise, unmodified mosquitoes from surrounding areas would move into the area and replenish the population.
I like add that long back in 1999 accidentally I have discovered a naturally available facultative protozoan parasite (Chilodonella uncinata) causing near cent percent mortality in JE vector larvae in ground water habitats in an area which remained so far free from JE.
These parasites were isolated, purified and colonized under room temperature. When formulation was prepared it was found to be effective against malaria vector as well as Aedes aegypti responsible for transmitting Dengue/Zika/Chick Virus. It was because of this work my parent institute was granted patent in India and six foreign countries including U.S.A and Australia (myself as the only Inventor). Continued the work even after my retirement. With the result methodology was improved and the formulation was packed in sachet form (like tea bag) which is easy to store, transport and treat with a shelf life >18 months.

Your devised formulation "sachet" have they been marketed or there were some more independent trials. Because this seems like "One size fit all" against all possible mosquito borne vectors?
What is the cost of it and are their any side effects? i know you have mentioned some of these replies in your shared work but just fr simplicity if you could share this.
I will go thru these article over the weekend.

I worked on the chemistry of mosquito attractants for many years at USDA, Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology, Gainesville FL, as did USDA entomologists and chemists before and after me. This was where l- lactic acid was discovered as a breath and skin effluent and attractive odorant, as well as a blood component. CO2 is breathed out, and is released from skin as well. Humans and animals are moving targets because mosquitoes detect these air-borne chemicals. Many other organic odorants come from humans via skin and breath as well as shown by GC-MS studies. Some of these chemicals add attractancy, and others reduce it. Freshly washed skin is attractive! USDA screened 25,000 natural and synthetic compounds as mosquito (& other arthropod) repellents since 1940. See D.A. Carlson, Uli Bernier

Have you or anyone tested lactic acid dimers (stereoisomeric mixtures) as attractants? I have always wondered about the non-volatile nature of this hydroxyacid (is it 'odourless' in humans?).
