Anyone who can help me to explain the phenomenon why leaf margin of citrus seedlings become yellow and dry?And what I can do to deliver this phenomenon?
there could be two options for such symptoms , damping off due to some infection , say Pytophthora or alternatively check water quality , especially chloride concentration , should not be beyond 150-200 ppm.
Xiaochui , seedlings originated from seeds have least possibility of viruses , besides the typical symptoms like vein clearing , mosaic formation etc are also not so distinctly visible in your picture . It is not leaf margin , it is leaf tips getting scorched, possibly due to salts ( could be clear from analysis of irrigation water ) or some fungal pathogens reaching to the leaves due to slashing of rain drops on the soil?
There is an interesting thing that all of the seedings are originated from seeds, but they are planted with different culture media, they are in the same growth condition of temperature, water and illumination. Some seedling show the phenomenon in the picture and roots are died , others without symptom.
If this condition persisted after fungal treatment, then the most likely culprit should be the water or soil, or combination of both. Also there is a possibility that the genetic material used was not up to the job. What about germination, was it within acceptable time frame?
