Hello Everyone,

This is regarding the EFL change of a biconvex lens. Can someone explain to me the reason for a change in the measurement of a boconvex lens in water when measured with a time gap of 1 hour? I mean I measured the focal length immediately first and then waited for an hour for the water to be still. Then took the second measurement. In this whole process, the position of the lens was never changed nor the medium (here, water) was disturbed. There was a difference in the measurement of the focal length. The focal lengths were measured different after some time. Not a very high difference, but still..

Immediate focal length measured: 5700mm

Focal lengthmeasured after 1 hour: 5200mm

What could be the reason?
