Hi Alec! K2 EDTA is used more than K3 EDTA in blood anticoagulation because when the EDTA concentration is stronger, K3 EDTA has a higher chance of shrinking RBCs. In another light, when the blood sample is left to stand for a certain period of time, K3 EDTA is more likely to cause an increase to the size of the cell.
