Why is anionic exchange chromatography more common than cationic exchange chromatography? Is it true that there are more negative charged proteins?

It is possible that naturally negative charged protein at pH 6.0 or more are common.
The IP of a protein depends on the protein composition in amino-acids. A protein rich in basic amino acids, as arginine has a high PI value. In contrast, a protein rich in acidic amino-acids, as aspartic acid has a low value of PI. If the medium pH is higher than the protein PI, the global charge of the protein is negative. In contrast, if the medium pH is lower than the protein PI, the charge of the protein is then positive. The choice of anionic or cationic exchange chromatography depends on the protein stability and besides the facility of the chromatography application.
