Dear All,

I was wondering why sometime in finite element formulation, the weight function is considered as W=Ni.

While weight function normally is the expansion of Ni multiplied with a coefficient (degree of freedom:d) and summed over nodal points in each element, i,e.: W=Sum (Ni. di).

I understand the latter but not the former.

Thank you very much.
