At several instances I found that adding an article published in a scientific journal was far from easy. In particular, I noticed that all scientific journals are not listed even though thay have a registered ISSN. In the following example, my article was published in SOIL ORGANISMS whose ISSN is 2509-9523. Unfortunately the name of this journal, being unknown (?) to RG, cannot be added when I edit the metadata of the article:

Other examples concern journals whose name has changed, and the ISSN by the same token, or journals which are not listed in the Clarivate Web of Science. For the sake of convenience, it would be better to add directly the ISSN in place of selecting the journal name within an incomplete list of pre-selected journal names. If I remember this was possible in the past, why no longer at all?
ResearchGate's database of journals is rather incomplete, and they do not accept requests to add journals manually. See https://explore.researchgate.net/display/support/Journals :

Currently, we only import journal data from CrossRef. If your journal is added to CrossRef’s journal database and has a valid ISSN, it should eventually become part of our database. We appreciate your patience in the meantime."

Here is my recommendation what to do: When a journal is missing in RG's list, I add the bibliographic details into the abstract field like "Published in: ..." Others add the details to the title field, but this may prevent RG from identifying the paper's citations, I guess.
If you cannot find the name of the journal in which you published then write to the editor about issue in which your paper has been published.
