Hello,

Flat plate solar collectors with tubes soldered to metal sheet (absorber) seem to be more polpular.

More efficient way to collect solar heat with the use of two corrugated plates as absorber - called flooded (similar to plate-and-frame hest exchanger) seems to be neglected by the manufacturers.

Flooded plate collectors are similar to tubed ones, except that two metal absorbing plates are sandwiched together, allowing the water to flow through the whole plate. The increased thermal contact results in significant improvements in the efficiency of the system.

What is the reason? Are there cost, manufacturing, operating or other problems with those flooded flat plate solar collectors?

Regards,

Stan
