Why electron beam is cutted when it is close to cross-over?

Hello everyone!

Need your help/expertise!

We use TEM JEM2100 equipped with LaB6 gun. When all apertures are removed I see "cutting" of the beam when I approach to the cross-over turning Brightness knob (see attached video). When I spread the beam the "cutting" disappears...

Could anyone interpret this, please?
