In coagulative necrosis, the nuclei disappear and the cellular proteins coagulate preserving the shape of the tissue and the structure can be identified. this condition does not occur in brain after injury or ischemia because of occurrence of liquefactive necrosis where the necrotic tissue undergoes liquefaction. the cause of this liquefaction in brain was explained by the action of microglial cells which contain hydrolytic enzymes that act on liquefaction of the dead tissue in brain.
