Why does the process "simulation_name.exe" does not end from my Windows Task Manager?

I am using OmNet++ on Windows 7 Ultimate with 4GB RAM and i7 processor.

When the simulation takes a lot of time and still does not run and the OmNet++ window freezes. I close the window and still see the process "simulation_name.exe" does not end even if I end it through the Windows Task Manager.

Has anyone faced this situation before? Please share your experience and give some suggestions if you have. Any help is deeply appreciated.
