Extinction coefficient for enzyme calculation.
I need to calculate specific enzyme activity. I have to use extinction coefficient (cinnamic acid) in the calculation. What I don't understand is why different literature showed different extinction coefficient of cinnamic acid. Does it depend on wavelength or solvent of cinnamic acid? For my cinnamic acid, I dissolved my cinnamic acid in distilled water (stock 1mg/mL) and wavelength to measure the absorbance value is 290 nm.

extinction coefficient is highly dependent on pH. U should use the same pH buffer to dissolve the compound, which u use for enzyme assay. At different pH, values will be different.
Rakesh Kumar is right. You need to know pK to know the cinnamate/cinnamic ration in your condtions. Of course, wavenumber is also important. Probably, 290 nm is not the maximum
