Academics are to upgrade public understandings of political office contestants but they hardly produce any intellectual work to enlightening the masses and caution the contestants of policies to put forward.
there are some important academics who can be noted as people who are doing such a work, analyzing political party' manifesto,as a part of their academic job, there are some courses in which academics learn how to analyze political parties. I Mean as n academic stuff in some branches of political science this is your Duty to do such a job.
Some Professors do that in Nigeria especially those in the area of Art and management. But they hardly produce intellectual work as a back up. In terms of policies, their responses are not usually srutinize for national development policy.
Simply because of the repercussions, when one's own mind is spoken, especially that of academics!
In India atleast, academics are serious critics of the Political parties.
