Hi can anyone help explain why we use different solvent when harvesting the fermentation product? I worked on extracting actinomycete. When we separate the supernatant and cell, why we mix the supernatant with ethyl acetate and cell with methanol? How can we make the comparison if from the beginning we already use different solvent?
