I am struggling to understand why my Cl/K and Ca/K spectra seem to have both a different number of steps and steps of differing length compared tho their respective age spectra. As far as I am aware the number and length of steps should equal one another across the different plots.
These spectra were plotted using Isoplot v.4.15 on Microsoft Excel, Windows XP. When I try use a younger version of Windows with Isoplot (Windows 7 for example) the Ca/K and Cl/K spectra sometimes do not even plot at all. Has anyone else experienced these problems and have some advice as to how I can homogenize my spectra per sample? Is there something that I am possibly doing wrong when plotting them?
Hi Robyn, I am guessing now but I would venture from logic that because during the "step heating process" by laser - during the heating in which temperature is gradually increased to release the Ar,K,Ca and Cl there would be independant detectors for each of the ratios and the measurements for each element ratio does not have to coincide with others being in effect different chemical systems..
Hi Geoff Grantham , thanks for your reply. In the end it turned out to be a case of trying to use Isoplot on a version of Microsoft Excel that was incompatible. I managed to get equal step lengths for the different spectra (of the same sample) by re-plotting the data using an older version of Microsoft Excel.
