The hysteresis of conductivity was observed in solutions of surfactants near the Craft point (Therm. Sci. 2012, 16, 631−640). The hysteresis of solubilization was observed in solutions of surfactants (J. Struct. Chem.2008, 49, 889−893). Why do micelles of ionic surfactants have the hysteresis properties?
In the Manojlovic paper, it is not the micelles that lead to the observed hysteresis, it is the crystals. When the system passes Krafft's temperature, the nucleation of CTAB crystals requires massive supersaturation (as with most cases of crystallization). The time needed to form a micelle is far below the time scale of her experiment.
I argee with Radomir that near the Craft point the surfactant molecules can be distrubuted between colloid liquid (micelle) and colloid crystal (solid) phases and that is the main reason of hysteresis.
