Why did the research on CO2 electrolysis reaction on solid oxide electrochemical cells slow down over the years?

The electrolysis of CO2 over Ceria based Solid Oxide Cells hold a great potential for future energy application. But it has not been investigated much since 2014. Is there any specific challenge that hindered this development?
