I have diluted crude grapevine leaf total nucleic acid extracts.

I quantified the RNA in five of these extracts using a Qubit RNA BR Assay Kit and found all of these diluted samples had RNA concentrations in the range of 5-10 ng/ul.

I treated these samples with RNase A (1 ug RNase A / 1 ul sample) for 15 minutes at 37°C.

I re-quantified the RNA in these extracts using the same Qubit kit and found that each sample's RNA concentration had increased approximately 5-fold.

What has caused this apparent increase in measured RNA concentration?
