Pyrite bioleaching solutions have lower pH values than pyrite chemical control solutions. But it is reverse in chalcopyrite solutions. What can be the reason?
This result is by the chemical properties of chalcopyrite. The chalcopyrite is a mineral-consuming acid. which is the chemical or mineralogical analysis of your mineral? What is the content of your chemical control?
Thank you, Luis. In the chemical control, there was ATCC 2039 medium and sterile crushed chalcopyrite. In fact, pyrrhotite is also acid-consuming but it showed the same pH behavior with pyrite.
Dear Ayse Tuba Kocaman, It is common that the pH of chalcopyrite bioleaching system will increase, as Luis poited out its because Chalcopyrite oxidation is Hydrogen ions consuming reaction. However it will happen only in the initial days, after the jarosite formation and sulfur oxidation the pH will tend to decrease. How long was your bioleaching experiments i.e leaching days?
