Why bacteria did not grow after getting out of -80 degree?

I stored my bacteria in -80 degrees, but bacteria have got weak and didn't grow. why did it happen like that? Is it possible that bacteria have destroyed? what is the best method for the storage of bacteria and what is the best broth?

this is not my field of expertise, but from knowing a few chemists back in the day, the likeliest cause of unexpected results is often contamination.
