I am trying to synthesize Au nanocages using Ag nanocubes as template, via the galvanic replacement reaction. I have synthesized the Ag nanocubes, now I'm using them to make Au nanocages. For some reason, the first two reactions showed the required color change to blue. But the next three were all colorless.
I have been using freshly made solutions, and taking care of all parameters.
Some black precipitates do appear on the stir bar after I start adding the Au solution.
But no color change. Can any body help me understand what is happening? What may be the source of error? Looking for practical suggestions and thanking in anticipation of extended help.

This paper is freely accessible as public full text on RG. I think it's very difficult (if not impossible) to judge from the outside what went wrong in your experiment and at what stage it went wrong. When I look at the detailed protocol, I get the feeling that the term "Facile synthesis" is a joke. Personally I find the synthesis rather complicated. Right now my only suggestion would be to carefully repeat every step of the protocol and particularly take care of the "critical steps" pointed out in the procedure.

Yes, it is the article I am following, and indeed I am having problem in understanding their protocol.
I searched up another article as well, they use a slightly different method for Au nanocages synthesis, but none of the papers have discussed such an issue.
