It's really intriguing that many nations have started easing the lockdown even with reports of high cases on daily basis. Could it be because summer is around or just for economic reasons regardless of public health consequences?
DILEMMA OF CHOOSING A DEAD ECONOMY OR DEAD POPULATION
The COVID-19 is having a catastrophic effect on economy all over globe. However, more apocalyptic is the morbidity and mortality and the breaking point of the health care system in the countries that already have poor infrastructure.
Secondly, people are also fed up with the restrictions of lock-downs particularly in Western societies.
However, we should keep in mind:
"You can revive a dead economy, but not a dead person."
thank you for sharing. Covid-19 has little with climate. Burundi country has around 25 and 32 degree. But, many people are dying of covid-19. The ex-first lady was suffering she came twesday from kenya when she heard her husband has died. The president himself died this monday even though it is not confirmed that it is because of covid-19. May be economic reasons justify the decision

I believe it is mostly because of economic reasons. Apparently, people living in low-middle income countries can not halt economic activities for longer period like high income countries. The situation is like either be safe from the virus and starve at home or risk your life to earn your bread.
It is not the weather! The virus has been spreading in some cities in India with temperatures as high as 42 degree Celsius.
The restrictions are being relaxed in India mainly for economic reasons with unemployment and hunger are expected to be at an all-time high.
However, the relaxations are being done in a phased manner. Cities/Zones with higher spread of the virus are still cordoned off. With the experience of six months of the pandemic, Companies and employees are being asked to take utmost care in terms of social distancing, using masks, etc.
Many countries including Nigeria are easing the lock down inspite of the ravaging presence of COVID-19 because of the negative effect the lockdown is having on their economies, most countries are falling in recession as we speak now, companies are folding up, a lot of people are loosing their jobs and many more will still loose their jobs because of the lockdown caused by COVID-19. The best decision countries can take now is to open their economies while we observe all the safety measures of boosting our immunity, using of face mask, social distancing, washing our hands with soap and water for 20 seconds e.t.c
Economic reasons. Let the best immune system win. It has nothing to do with the weather, just that in winter people get close to each other and they inhale cold air and get flu-like symptoms, the introduction of masks is helping this season in Botswana (no sick leaves).
Money makes the world go round; or perhaps it is the other way around. People going around the world make money.
Either way people and governments now have no money as a result of people not going around the world so lockdowns have to be eased. Economic collapse will kill more people than Covid-19
Samuel Olorunfemi Adams, yes. I learnt cases are rising in Nigeria too and it appears as though it's better to be struggling with the pandemic rather than sliding into economic recession. Considering the steps that various governments are taking.
At first there was fear for COVID-19 and people were less worried about economic crisis and but now though cases are increasing rapidly, people are more feared about economic crisis rather than COVID-19.
One major reason I think is behind it is as a result of the economic hardship of staying at home. No source of income for the people and decrease in Internal Generated Revenue too for the government.
Many Nation's expected covid 19 to end up as soon as possible, which did not happen. This is emerging disease and will take time for researchers to discover the treatment. Nations are worried of their economy so people to take health measures and promote the economy although it is difficult for people to adhere to the required measures
Tabitha Kwasira, thanks for your comment. As you have noted rightly, I agree that most nations are concerned about how to keep the economy moving pending the time it will take to get over the crisis.
It's true. There's lockdown . Production hours reduced, many have lost their jobs, industries/ companies closed and the poor need basic needs like food from their leaders which is more loose from government. Buying and selling is low social distancing have reduced the population in markets and supermarkets. A lot of input on covid 19 patients and suspects. Nations are at a lose.
Gradual ease is necessary but it should never at the cost of decreased vigil and strictness of the rules. The socio-economic loss will take a long time to recover, I agree. But the battle with COVID-19 also is far from over
Countries cannot shut down their economy forever, life must go on. Our economic, social and political life have been put on hold for over Five months now.
It is time to move on with our lives amidst the COVID-19 pandemic while we observe all the preventive measures.
Health education and Promotion on prevention and control of covid 19 is continues, let us now adhere to it, as we uplift the economy and we pray for the hand of God for solution
Stephen Taiwo Onifade yes, may be your thoughts are on right track. Covid has stalled the economy and crippled the earnings of working class. In consequence despite cases are rising many government across the globe easing the restrictions.
