Why Ag/AgCl reference electrode should not be used in alkaline media?

I carried out the CV in 0.5M NaOH with Ag/AgCl electrode. But the result is not as expected. So I switched to other conditions.

I want to know the reason in detail with reactions. Can anyone please?

Ag+ + HO- = AgOH then 2AgOH=Ag2O (black pp.) + H2O

Ag2O blocks the membrane (frit) of your REF electrode. Use a salt bridge (KNO3 sol.).
