it is generally said that the full potential window of aqueous electrolytes (1.2 V) can not be used for supercapacitors containing electrodes made up of Ni(OH)2 , but what is the harm in it, if the electrolyte decomposition is not taking place, any electrolyte can be utilized to its full potential window, I suppose. but most of the literatures suggest that only a potential window of 0.5 - 0.7 V can be used for Ni(OH)2 containing supercapacitors, and similarly why not 1 M H2SO4 can 't be used as its electrolyte? please share your knowledge.
