Alexander Ohnemus, No, I won’t read you study. Nor support anyone who implies he knows what best and can save humanity. Too many King & Queens, dictators, the most wealthy among us, captains of industry, the Church, say the same thing.
In 1951, Huxley popularized the term transhumanism for the view that humans should better themselves through science and technology, possibly including eugenics, but also, importantly, the improvement of the social environment.
Here we are in 2024 seeing the results of 70+ years of science and technology in relationship with people (the social environment). We’re living with a planet in crisis. All the grand hope, promises and ideas of science and technology, all their promises of a better life, of easing access to food, clothing, shelter and medical care fail the majority of people on this planet. The way its failed the planet is a sin against mankind. Its racist that only the wealthier will survive.
Sure we didn’t know then what we know now. But that’s precisely the point. After 70+ years of developing science and technology, after study after study we have demonstratively make things worse.
I suggest you do well to put the “promise” of saving humanity and science and technology aside and study people. Find out the needs in 2024 of ours cultures and communities on this planet. Oh, and leave out the racism talk. You ain’t all that much better than anyone of us.
