I need a material that works like a hydrophobic agent and should be low cost and effective as well as trimethylethoxysilane or something like that. I need an agent that isn't harmful for nature and humans.
Please be more specific: do you want to coat a material with it, or is it for another purpose. The most environment-friendly hydrophobic agents are paraffines or waxes.

You can get hydrophopic material by coating it with a polymer. There is a lot of polymers (dissolving in water) and even biodegradable such as PVA that you can use to coat, but you must take in your concern the low concentration of the polymer solution to get high quality coating layer.
So, i'm trying to coat some materials with hydrophobic agent. I try to make something like magic sand.
I think FDTS (Perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane) coating can act as an effective hydrophobic agent and may serve your purpose.
