We faced with decreasing tempreture when we add manganese in ladle and the material consumption is higher when we add it in furnace what is the best way for adding this ferroalloy to steel molten metal?we use induction furnace.
The recovery of ferrosilcomanganese can be increased by reducing the amount of dissolved oxygen in molten steel. If your process route have a Ladle Metallurgy Furnace(LMF) refining down the line of induction melting, then the ferroalloy can be added to the ladle. If LMF is not there and maintaining temperature is the prime importance then it can be added in the furnace itself along with some accetable amount of deoxidizers like aluminum.
Every ferro alloy has some chill factor (-ive or + ive). If you have a ladle furnace, then the best place for ferro alloy addition is during tapping (alloys like SiMn, FeMn etc) and trimming addition in ladle furnace.
If you do not have ladle furnace, then for temperature management addition can be done in induction furnace. Addition in induction furnace may lead to lower recovery also.
