Hi, I am doing high frequency ultrasound analysis through pitch-catch mode. I have sent the signal only through air as well as though gel of less thickness (2mm). The pattern of the received signal does have a little change. Is it supposed to be like that? I have attached the picture of both received signals here. Thank you.
Could you answer me a few questions?
1) What is your ultrasound frequency?
2) What is your sampling rate?
Assuming your set up allows the detection of non-linear acoustic effects (NLA), there are a few mentions for "very little change while going through different material":
1) low acoustic intensity might introduce little to none NLA (within the resolution limit of your detection technique)
2) thin slab of gel might introduce little NLA, I would recommend changing the slab thickness to 10-30mm if you are using low-moderate acoustic intensity. Specifically, if your spatial-peak-temporal-average intensity is less than 720W.cm-2, the NLA is not obvious and you would need further signal-processing.
Nhan Minh Le, Thank you for your answer. I do not have much idea about NLA. I will study on that. The answer of your questions are:
1. I am using a 25 MHz transducer which frequency bandwidth is 22-41 MHz
2. My sampling rate of the oscilloscope is 500 MS/s
