I think you will get an answer if share information about what type of material you would like to obtain. Without this knowledge, nobody will help. The question you asked is more or less equivalent to : what is the best car? Please be more specific and you will likely get an answer.

I agree with Marek Polanski comment. It would be very difficult to help you with an unclear question. Of course, you can hide the materials name as you would not like to reveal it to other people. But, remember, some materials with ductile nature is difficult to prepare using ball milling, as during milling it forms the strip or thin layers. Another point is, due to the non-solubility of starting materials insolvent, it is very difficult to adopt the chemical method of synthesis, even though, chemical synthesis such as pyrophoric method, sol-gel method, hydrothermal method, solution combustion method ( I am not sure particularly the name is correct or just another form of the previous name) is found to be very useful in making nanoparticles size with homogeneous distributions. Always remember, based on the samples you want to prepare, you need to optimise the pH of the fuel agent used in chemical synthesis, temperature, stirring time of solution while heating, and least but most important the temperature at which you get the phase formation. Generally, if you get the fine powder after either of the chemical routes, well-grounded and calcined at a lower temperature (again depends on the materials) the crystallite size and particle size distribution can be controlled. Chemical synthesis is fast and low-cost preparation with high yield, while ball milling process is time taking and optimizations are also required such as milling time, balls (stainless steel or zirconia balls) to sample ratio, rpm, pause time if any, etc.

In addition to this, I think many people can share their experience of synthesis if you don't mind sharing the sample details at least type of sample or similar system. It is going to help you by default. Good luck

What I want to say is that you will certainly receive more qualified answers when you are a bit more specific about the nanoparticles you are interested in. There is a vast body of literature about the synthesis and characterization of all kinds of nanoparticles available, presumably ten thousands of articles. Thus my general suggestion would be to directly search the "Publications" section of RG for helpful literature references. Numerous articles about of nanoparticles have been posted by RG members, very many of them even as public full texts. Countless papers will be displayed when you search for the term "preparation of nanoparticles":
