Depends on the radiation dose and what other things you are looking at. In general higher radiation dose will have a stronger cell cycle checkpoint where the longer time may required to observe the changes. However, in case of a lower dose there will be weaker checkpoint so most of the effect may not last longer and observations at shorter time points will be useful here. Again what you are looking at and what other conditions you have may used should be considered.
