Hi everyone, Hydroxy naphthol blue reagent is marketed in two variants, the original (CAS 63451-35-4) and in the form of sodium salt (CAS 165660-27-5). For its use in LAMP-PCR, the Hydroxy naphthol blue disodium salt variant can be used or it is preferable to use the Hydroxy naphthol blue (CAS 63451-35-4)? or it does not matter?

Dear Lianet Rodriguez-Cabrera many thanks for your very interesting technical question. In fact, the "original" hydroxy naphthol blue (HNB) reagent is the trisodium salt (see attached schematic formula drawing). According to the link cited below, it does make a difference which one of the two reagents is employed for LAMP-PCR. In the article the authors strongly discourage buying and using the HNB disodium salt, although it may be the cheaper reagent. Thus the "original" trisodium salt (CAS 63451-35-4) is preferred.
