Which type of electrolyte can be used to increase the operating potential window of supercapacitor up to 2.5 V?? we have used PVA-KOH gel electrolyte, PVA-H3PO$ gel electrolyte, PVA-H2SO4 gel electrolyte and Na2So4 aqueous electrolyte. but we could not achieve potential window more than 1.7 V . please suggest some other electrolyte with wide potential window.

For higher potential windows you should use organic electrolytes, because 1.7 V is very high potential windows for aqueous electrolyte (probably oxygen and hydrogen evolved on the electrode). Some of the examples are given in the attached graph.

In this work they have attained operational voltage upto 4.5 using N-butyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide electrolyte.

ionic liquids are a class of electrolytes that have the capability of increasing the potential window of a cell to > 3-3.5 V (depending on their type). You can find numerous publications on their capabilities. Bare in mind that electrolyte is not the only component in a cell that can influence the potential window. For example, moisture in your electrodes can reduce the operational window of a cell and if neglected, it can dramatically reduce the lifetime of the cell.
The potential window of the electrolyte(s) depends, strongly, on the (asymmetric) supercapacitors' electrode materials, also.
So, what are your supercapacitor's electrode materials of interest ?
Ioannis Samaras i have made both type of devices, but now i am focusing on asymmetric device for wide operating potential window.

For this potential window you can use tetra ethyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate as a salt and polypropylene carbonate as a solvent. By using this electrolyte you can have a potential window from 0 to 3 volts. The purity of the materials that are used are of great importance.
