Excellent question that I answer from my experience as a university professor for 33 years. Topics that may have priority today would be related to the following: 1. Interpersonal relationships in virtual spaces. 2. Technological literacy. 3. The formation of values in the face of information and communication technologies. 4. The use of information and communication technologies in education. 5. The values. 6. The skills for conflict resolution. 7. Environmental education and the ecological crisis. 8. Gender education.
Amazing and complete answer. Totally agree, ICT are a breaking topic in Education. At the same time, values and skills are important in the social and emotional area of students/citizens @Juan Manuel Montero Peña
At my institution, we have just begun implementing (and researching) a teacher residency program which challenges traditional models of student teaching, i.e., one semester working with a cooperating teacher before earning your initial teacher credentials. The traditional model is flawed for many reasons, but a year-long residency (similar to medical residency models) in which both the "student" teacher and the classroom teacher work side by side as co-teachers for an entire school year is suggested to be more effective in creating well-prepared teachers who remain in the profession for longer periods of time. Now, this idea isn't entirely new, but its application, at least in the US, has been limited. I would suggest that moving toward this type of model could be considered "breaking borders."
I totally agree. Very interesting iniciative. I hope you are collecting data to compare and show evidence about the different "teachers' styles", let me know. And thanks Reid Evans
Learning by doing is an emerging process of education. Another big blow seen is, expertise in the subjects of the student's interest based on their creative/ intellectual/ emotional/ learning/ interests. This provides the students with a choice of what they wanna study and gives an early view of what to do in future. The traditional practices of education needs to change with time so as to meet the current and future demands, as the caliber of brains&mind of coming generation is evolutionary. Co-creative design thinking approaches among students and trainers to design the curriculum. Superhero fiction films visualizing futuristic technologies leading to rapid growth in technological innovations.
Even this method at research gate that you are currently using to educate yourself to brainstorm on a topic, is the new trend of sharing and gaining knowledge from all around the world. It gives multiple perception on one topic from around the world in no time.
